PURPOSE & HISTORY

The Korean Operations Research and Management Science Society (KORMS) is the professional organization in Korea for individuals and organizations interested in the fields of Operations Research (OR) or Management Science (MS).

The society was established on June 23, 1976 and incorporated as a nonprofit organization on June 28, 1977 under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Objectives

The objectives of the Society are as follows.
To promote the study and application of OR/MS.
To disseminate knowledge through the publication of research results and informal exchange of information.
To contribute to the advancement of the fields of OR and MS, as well as system analysis, cybernetics, and related disciplines.
The Society has grown remarkably over the past 48 years. As of October 2024, the society comprises more than 4,500 members.
